The Little Black Gallery is proud to announce MASTERPIECES, an exhibition of iconic fashion photographs by legendary British photographers Terence Donovan, Patrick Lichfield and Norman Parkinson.

Cindy Crawford, 1988, by Terence Donovan

Terence Donovan (1936-1996) came to prominence in the 1960s as part of the ‘swinging sixties’ with David Bailey and Brian Duffy and revolutionised the world of magazine and newspaper photography. Shooting mainly in black and white his informal, intelligent style set him apart. Photography was his life and he is considered one of this country’s greatest photographers.

Nassau, Bahamas, 1970, by Patrick Lichfield

Patrick Lichfield (1939-2005), unlike Donovan, came from a priviledged background as a cousin of the Queen. This never hindered his career and his work became synonymous with the life of the glamorous, rich and famous. He was contracted by Diana Vreeland, doyenne of fashion editors with American Vogue, giving him an opportunity to create some of the defining images of the Sixties and Seventies.

Cardin Hat Over Paris, Queen Magazine, 1960, by Norman Parkinson © Norman Parkinson Archive

Norman Parkinson (1913-1990) was the quintessential British gentleman photographer. He dazzled the world over seven decades with his sparkling inventiveness and has become one of the most famous and collectable British photographers. His long association with Vogue, and other numerous magazines, brought him worldwide recognition. His innovative style transformed the static, posed approach to fashion photography, while his enchanting, idiosyncratic persona charmed his sitters and projected an alluring and glamorous public image.

1st September 2009 until 10th October 2009

The Little Black Gallery, supported by Towergate Camerasure, is proud to announce its autumn show I WANT IT ALL, an exhibition of photographs of film stars, rock legends, cooks and queens.

All of the photographs were shot on film (digital was still waiting to be imagined when these images were created!) and the prints on view are of various types; silver gelatin (or “real” photographs as I like to call them), digital bromide and giclee. Most importantly of all, ALL of the images are for sale and present an opportunity to purchase something a bit special.

A full list of the images on show, including important information regarding print sizes, types, limited edition and price, is available to view or download on the Little Black Gallery website (in PDF format).

I’m still buzzing from my previous trip to the gallery to see Bob Carlos Clarke’s work so I’m certainly going to be heading to Chelsea again for this exhibition. Might even take my wife this time.

JIMI HENDRIX CLASSIC by GERED MANKOWITZ , 1967

(Left to Right): Beach Ball, Palm Springs California 2002; Dice II, Norfolk 2004; Some Like it Hot, Bisbee Arizona 2001

The Photographers Lounge is pleased to present the latest exhibition of limited edition photographs by acclaimed photographer Richard Heeps.

This widely-anticipated exhibition follows Richard’s highly-successful solo exhibition at the gallery last Summer and showcases a number of new works, as well as his stunning new 30″ x 40″ format prints.

All Richard’s images are C-type hand-printed from negative and are available for purchase as signed limited editions (framed or mounted), along with a selection of books and postcards.

The exhibition runs from Saturday July 25 until Sunday September 20.

Richard Heeps’ photography is both art and documentary, and his seductive, highly-saturated colours and sophisticated pictorial structures demonstrate a true love and empathy for his subject matter. Be it cool, descriptive interiors, still life, character studies or landscape, his distinctive style pushes the limits of lens-based photography without the need for digital manipulation. Hand-printed by the artist to heighten the colour saturation, Richard’s c-type photographs are all printed from negative in ‘full frame’ which gives the distinctive ragged-edge look.

Las Vegas Pool Supplies, Nevada 2001.

Richard has been exhibiting his work for 20 years, including shows at The Photographers’ Gallery in London and Les Rencontres d’Arles. Recently profiled in ‘The Independent’ and ‘British Journal of Photography’, he has constantly published his work as part of an extension of his artistic boundaries, and three – ‘A Different Light: Images of Thurrock’, ‘Man’s Ruin’ and ‘Rolled Out’ – are available at this exhibition.

This latest exhibition at the Photographers Lounge showcases not just a range of new images, but also brings to public display his impressive new 30″ x 40″ prints: genuinely best appreciated at first-hand. An extensive range of framed or mounted prints are available are various sizes, each individually signed, numbered and certificated.
